Bond Proposal Details

The fate of Austin’s pools is now in the City Council’s hands. They can approve any amount of bond money for the various areas, including affordable housing, parks, and aquatics. (The aquatics bond is part of the Parks and Recreation Department bond.)

Here are the details for aquatics bonds:

Bond Election Advisory Task Force Recommendation—$33 million

  • $13 Million for Colony Park District Park Pool – New Construction
  • $6 Million for Givens – Complete Replacement of Existing Pool
  • $4 Million for Mabel Davis – Major Renovation and Upgrade of Existing Pool
  • $10 Million for renovations and upgrades to existing facilities

Parks and Recreation Board Recommendation—$68 million

  • $13 Million for Colony Park District Park Pool – New Construction
  • $6 Million for Givens – Complete Replacement of Existing Pool
  • $3.7 for Civitan – Complete Replacement of Existing Pool
  • $3.5 for Gillis – Complete Replacement of Existing Pool
  • $5.2 for Montopolis – Complete Replacement of Existing Pool
  • $8.7 for Northwest – Complete Replacement of Existing Pool
  • $8 for Southwest – New Construction
  • $10 Million for Mabel Davis – Complete Replacement of Existing Pool
  • $9.7 Million for renovations and upgrades to existing facilities
